The Unique Living Leaves® Growing System Super Cloche

The equipment elements of the Living Leaves® Growing System are designed for the professional grower and domestic gardener alike whose highest priorities are for convenience, time saving and durability.

The Living Leaves® Super Cloche (patent applied for) removes the usual problems of cloche systems. It offers the ultimate in ease of use and practicality as a complete structure.

The cloche takes less than a minute to fit or relocate on a bed by a single individual, offers instant access to the crops it protects, does not blow away in high wind or when opened to tend your crops, protects against insect, bird and animal damage and is manufactured of materials that will last for years with proper use.

The Living leaves® Super Cloche is in effect a complete portable mini greenhouse with a range of cover types. It is therefore more expensive to buy than the conventional cloche systems you could use to protect your crops (typically rolls of plastic sheeting stretched over separate hoops and weighted down with soil or bricks). But our trials have shown that the extra initial cost is recouped many times over in time saving alone, during the life of the cloche.

Cloche Sizes & Construction
The system is based on a galvanised steel frame in two heights 69 cms and 91.5 cms covering 1 module of growing area 1.2m x 1.2m (3.9ft x 3.9ft) with the choice of three different hand tailored covers, mini greenhouse, micromesh and bird & cat net, to address a wide range of crop protection needs. For the 91.5cms high frame only the micromesh cover is available. A 2.4 metre wide cloche covering two modules of growing area, is under trial at our Nursery Garden.

The complete cloche is anchored to the Living Leaves® Standard Raised or Table Bed by a quick fit anchor design. Although the Living Leaves® Super Cloche can be used on its own to protect crops, it is primarily designed for use with the purpose made range of Living Leaves® raised and table beds. These include additional construction features to increase equipment life and our unique cloche anchor system. These purpose made beds provide the stability on which ease of use is based and enable the cloches to be opened in windy conditions without the risk of the cover being blown away as so often happens in other cloche systems.

Cover choices
The Living Leaves® Mini Greenhouse cover which is UV resistant transparent pvc and is designed to give post planting protection, to extend the growing season, to accommodate specialist crops which require a warm micro climate like Chillis and for use in propagation and as cold frames. The cover has a ventilation window at either end covered with mesh and roll up covers secured by velcro.

The Living Leaves® Fine Mesh cover is designed to provide a fully ventilated growing environment to protect crops subject to a range of insect and bird pests from Wild Rocket to crops like peas in the early stages of growth and most members of the brassica family (where both caterpillars and pigeons are serious predators).

The Living Leaves® Bird and Cat Net cover is designed to provide protection from pigeons, cats, dogs and other similar predators. Access is by Velcro fasteners.

Super Cloches and the Living Leaves® Garden Kits
In designing the Living Leaves® Growing System we have considered the climatic and pest risks which our recommended plant selections are most likely to need protection. Where protection is desirable we have provided optional cloches packs to add to each garden kit.

Living Leaves® cloche frames are supplied with a 5 year guarantee and the covers with a one year materials and workmanship guarantee.
