The Living Leaves^® Raised & Table Beds

The equipment elements of the Living Leaves® Growing System are designed for the professional grower and domestic gardener alike whose highest priorities are for convenience, time saving and durability.

The raised and table beds designed for the Living Leaves® Growing System are therefore purpose made to satisfy these three requirements. They have extra constructional features to add to the robustness of the finished bed and to provide the rigidity and stability which help to make the Living Leaves® Super Cloche element of the growing system such an effective, easy to use and practical method of crop protection.

They and the Living Leaves® Super Cloche were developed by trialling alternative, cheaper raised bed and crop protection designs at our own trial garden (of which the beds illustrated in the above photograph were one of the first).

The Living Leaves® Growing System uses pressure treated soft wood from renewable plantations in the construction of beds.

One Module Beds, 40cm & 20cm deep

A 2 Module Bed 40cm deep

The beds are based on a growing area made up of modules. 1 module is 120cm by 120cm.

They are manufactured in multiples of 1 and 2 modules in both depths. Longer beds can be constructed by using combinations of these two standard sizes. All beds include our unique cloche anchor channels to securely locate the Living Leaves® Super Cloche.

Table beds of 1 module 20 cms deep are currently available for those who wish to garden at waist height (75cms above ground level). 2 module table beds are currently under test; 40.cms deep beds are avilable at extra cost.

Bed depths

All beds are available in 20 and 40cm depths (on the left above) using boards with nominal dimensions (i.e. before planing) of 20cm X 5cms. Additional boards can be added in increments of 20cm at extra cost. Corner legs are made of 7cm square pressure treated, planed timber in nominal 20cm, 40 cm and 75cm (table bed) lengths.

Design Styles

Beds are available in Standard or Deluxe styles.

Deluxe beds have corner posts bevelled at the top and bed capping bars.

Fittings

These are of stainless steel with Torx heads for long life and to avoid the staining of timber through rusting.

Bed labeling

To identify your beds from year to year we supply numbered aluminium bed labels to be attached to each bed.
